CONSORTIUM – RESEARCH GROUPS
IMDEAE-UPAT Group of the IMDEA Energy Foundation Our research is focused on the development of modular, efficient and manageable concentrated solar technologies for electricity production, industrial process heat and synthetic fuels generation. Our priority is R&D in gas-solid solar reactors and receivers with high surface exchange operating under high radiation fluxes; high-performance solar concentrators that are easily integrated into urban environments; components and devices for thermal energy storage; hydrogen and other solar fuels and development of measurement and characterisation techniques. Lines of research
- Modular schemes for solar thermal installations, with high efficiency and capability of distribution and integration in urban areas.
- Solar receivers and reactors (volumetric and particle).
- Highly concentrated thermal energy storage (PCM, chemistry), materials, modelling and test bench for characterisation.
- Production of solar fuels and chemicals using metal oxides.
- PCU integration, heat recovery and environmental impact (advanced cycles, water, brightness, glare)
